THE APPRAISAL INSTITUTE OF CANADA, founded in 1938, is the national professional institute of real estate appraisers, dedicated to high and uniform standards for members of the appraisal profession. You can recognize a qualified member of the Institute by the designation AACI or CRA.

1 - AACI (Accredited Appraiser Canadian Institute) designates fully accredited membership in the Institute and may be used by the holder in connection with the appraisal of a wide variety of real property.

2 - CRA (Canadian Residential Appraiser) designates individuals qualified in the appraisal and valuation of individual undeveloped residential dwelling sites and dwellings containing not more than four self contained family housing units.

More than 6,500 members provide reasoned valuations widely respected by the courts, real estate corporations, mortgage lending institutions, all levels of government and private individuals. Members must complete a rigorous course of studies in all aspects of real estate valuation before they are granted the use of either of the above designations. Ongoing educational programs, information exchange, regular seminars and meetings ensure high professional standards.
